PAR Leadership Team
Mark McManus
P.A.R. Ministries Founder & Executive Director
In his own experience of 30 years of personal recovery and seeing the dilemma facing those in the body of Christ who struggle with addiction, Mark was moved to seek God’s wisdom in finding a solution. After much prayer and heart-to-heart discussions with his wife, Amy, they both knew that Power for Abundant Recovery Ministries was born for such a time as this. God gave Mark a simple vision of restoration for those who are broken and bound by addiction in the body of Christ and a practical plan to bring it into fruition.
In the Recovery World: Before stepping in full time as PAR Executive Director, Mark not only served 10 years as an Adjunct Therapy Specialist, within the addiction recovery treatment field, but is also a regular lecturer and inspirational public speaker who empowers and equips people for victory over addiction. Mark is a member of the National Association of Experts on Traumatic Stress. As a 4th Degree black belt Mark has been an Adrenal Response De-Escalation Instructor, teaching at the International Police Chaplains Conferences, as well as anxiety and stress management skills for relapse prevention.
In the Christian Community: After his ordination Mark chose not to pastor a church but to serve on the field of human need as an Adjunct Chaplain to the U.S. Army Reserve, providing pre and post deployment spiritual care to soldiers and their families, as well as grief loss care and suicide prevention training. He also served as a Law Enforcement Chaplain for 10 years. As a Chaplain Mark saw the worst of broken lives through addiction, and dysfunction, and a disconnection between the Recovery Community and the Faith Community. This deepened his convictions even more that a solution was needed. Mark is a Certified Christian Life Coach with the American Association of Christian Counselors and is passionate about his love for Jesus Christ and his conviction that one of our most urgent mission fields is within the church community. Mark quotes Isaiah 61:1 as the core heartbeat of P.A.R. Ministries: “The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because he has anointed me to bring good news to the afflicted; he has sent me to bind up the broken-hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and freedom to prisoners.”
Amy McManus
Co-Founder and Director of PAR International Womens' Ministries
Amy brings a unique and valuable synergy of clinical experience, compassion, and practical experience to the P.A.R. Leadership Team. As an RN Case Manager and Certified Diabetes Educator, Amy knows the many physical implications of addiction, as well as the emotional impact on families and loved ones. Her critical thinking and assessment skills help us to make sure that we are constantly striving for excellence in bringing thoughtful and effective whole-person recovery tools to our P.A.R. CODA outreach program and to the Body of Christ as a whole.
In the Recovery World: Amy helps many navigate critical life decisions in her professional life. In addition, she brings a valuable cache of life experiences and insights in dealing with the many aspect of codependency through her years of personal experience in Al-Anon. Amy is resilient in her tenacious pursuit of continued learning and understanding of whole-person restoration in body, soul and spirit.
In the Christian Community: Amy is a disciplined student of the Word of God in her daily study and prayer. She brings that passion and love for God and His Word to her women’s Bible study group and to another Bible study group that she co-facilitates with her husband, Mark. Amy is a worshiper and has been involved in worship ministry. And we can’t prove it but we at P.A.R. believe she has a special anointing for running marathons and mountain trail runs. She is such a blessing to our ministry team and to the move of God in bringing restoration to those who struggle with codependency and brokenness.
Mitch Donahue
P.A.R. Ministries Board of Directors
We are so blessed to have Mitch Donahue as a part of the PAR leadership team family.
From his humble and authentic demeanor, you wouldn’t know that he was not only a former NFL player but a highly celebrated college football legend.
The 1989 and 1990 WAC Defensive Player of the Year, Mitch Donahue became the greatest defensive end in Wyoming’s history. He was named first-team All-American by the Football Writers Association, The Sporting News, and the National Football League Draft Report. As a senior, he finished fourth in the prestigious Outland Trophy Award balloting. During his senior year, the two-time WAC Defensive Player of the Week led the nation in sacks with 21.
Mitch is a four-time All-WAC selection owning the Wyoming record for most career sacks with 48 and is in the top ten in career tackles. Mitch was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in the fourth round in 1991 and spent two years in the Bay Area playing middle linebacker. He then was picked up by the Denver Broncos in 1993 where he played for two years before going to the Atlanta Falcons.
Although Mitch has had many successes, he will tell you that he and his amazing wife of 29 years, Melissa, have had their share of trials by fire, including a career-ending injury in 1995 while playing with the Atlanta Falcons as well as his victorious battle with alcoholism which became one of his greatest testimonies.
Today Mitch is not only a dedicated father of two adult children and successful in the business world, but he is a committed supporter of PAR’s mission through his service not only as a board member and a regular group facilitator but as a mentor to other men seeking Christ-centered recovery.
Mitch has an authentic passion for PAR and seeing others bound in alcoholism and addiction come to a transforming relationship with Jesus Christ and experience a life of abundant recovery.
It is individuals like Mitch whose warmth and compassion are matched only by his conviction and tenacity in reaching out to those still bound and broken in addiction that bears witness that God calling out and equipping leaders for such a time as this on the battlefield of addiction plaguing our nation.
Scott Simon
PAR Ministries Board Treasurer & Quality Assurance Specialist
Scott brings over 28 years of corporate operations and leadership experience focusing on strategy, planning and plan execution, as well as a genuine passion for the PAR mission.
This passion stems from his own family being profoundly impacted by the devastation of alcoholism and seeing a family member experience the loving embrace and fellowship from the people of PAR when his need was the greatest.
Scott, like his fellow Board members, strives to live as a Servant Leader ever deepening his intimate relationship with Jesus Christ, and to love others in the body, as Christ loved the church.
Scott is very much a proponent of the effectiveness of small group fellowship and enjoys Christian Apologetics and all genres of Christian music.
However, he would tell you that there’s nothing quite like the adrenaline rush of barreling down a hill on a mountain bike; but he is learning to equally enjoy the simple pleasure of a long, leisurely walk in the country with Brenda, his bride of 28 years.
We may try to recruit him as our mountain bike activity leader at our next PAR Recovery Summit. We’ll keep everyone posted!
Christa Peacock
P.A.R. Ministries Board Secretary
We are so very blessed in not only having Christa as a member of our Board of Directors but serving also as our Board Secretary.
True to the culture of our leadership at PAR, Christa brings not only a strong and defined skill set with her many years of experience in executive level administrative coordination but is an authentic disciple of Jesus Christ.
Like her fellow Board members, she has experienced the damaging implications of alcoholism and codependency, yet today walks in the wholeness and freedom found only in Jesus Christ.
Christa also serves in one of the most important roles any of our team could be involved in, and that is in being a PAR Mentor.
Regularly she can be found discipling women and mentoring them in Christ centered recovery. This honored area of service is only able to be implemented through an individual who is willing to sacrifice in helping someone else experience the freedom from addiction in authentic Christ centered recovery.
Christa is one of those seasoned and beloved individuals. Whether it be serving on a grass roots level, or coordinating on an executive level her humility and dedication to Jesus is always is always present, and it is a joy to have her with us as part of the PAR Ministry family.
